Getting Kids In-Sync with Fun and Functional Sensory-Motor Activities
Free workshop by Frederick County SECAC, Families Plus, FCPS Partners for Success, & FCDC Family Support
Parents, teachers, and other professionals can add variety to the sensory-motor experiences of the children they care for with “In-Sync” activities. These are designed to develop and enhance physical, social/emotional, and cognitive skills by encouraging kids’ active participation in the three-dimensional world. Activities emphasize paying attention, social interaction and communication, heavy work, messy and not-so-messy play, body awareness, balance, rhythm and timing, visual-spatial and auditory-language processing, motor planning, midline crossing, and calming down. The activities that participants will learn about will benefit all kids, with or without disabilities. The presenter, Carol Kranowitz, is the nationally known author of the book, The Out-of-Sync Child.
Pre-registration is required. Workshop is for adults only. Light snacks and water/coffee provided.
