I really like… Spending time in nature – especially close to water.

    I really don’t like… Baklava.

My hobbies are… Gardening. Working out. Reading.

An accomplishment I’m really proud of… Completing two sprint triathlons.

One thing you wouldn’t know by looking at me… I have a weird talent for alphabetizing words and road signs

On the weekend you might find me… visiting downtown Frederick with my husband and our dog, Steinway.

If I could live anywhere, I would live… on a beautiful lake!

My personal motto is… Do unto other as you would have them do unto you.

After developing an early love for music, Darcy knew she wanted it to be a part of her career path. She hated performing (still does!) and didn’t feel that being a music teacher was right for her. When she had the opportunity to go to a presentation about a music therapy program at an adult day center, she knew she had found her future profession! Darcy went to Appalachian State University in Boone, NC where she received a Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy and a minor in Special Education. After receiving her board certification (MT-BC), Darcy worked as a contract music therapist serving pediatric clients and built a music therapy program at a retirement community before starting Noteable Progressions in 2011.

Darcy has completed advanced training in Neurologic Music Therapy and Sprouting Melodies. Her areas of specialty are early childhood, older adults, and neurologic music therapy. Her model of practice focuses on community music therapy, working with people in context with social and cultural factors and serving as a forum for advocacy and community awareness. In addition to supervising the team of music therapists at Noteable Progressions, Darcy is an active presenter providing workshops and in-service opportunities to teach and support agencies and families to use music purposefully in the centers, classrooms, and homes.
