    In Harmony: An Online 60-minute Music Therapy and Yoga Based Wellness Experience

    As we juggle the challenges and uncertainties of everyday life, our minds, bodies, and actions become out of sync. This leads to unwanted stress, distraction, and exhaustion, and our bodies begin to produce more cortisol (the stress hormone) – causing an array of additional issues. In this class, you will learn techniques to help keep your mind, body, and spirt in harmony with each other – things that you can integrate into your daily life without adding “one more thing” to your plate.

    Together, we will explore:

    • Guided meditation
      • Research has shown that practicing meditation helps support presence. When practicing presence, we are better able to manage the impacts of stress and negative emotions. Meditation has been shown to increase patience and tolerance and help to calm the nervous system.
      • We will begin the experience with a music-guided meditation to encourage going inward and centering. 
    • Evidence-based breath work
      • Breathing is the foundation to living. By manipulating our breathing, we can also manipulate our nervous system.
      • You’ll learn various breathing techniques, and we’ll discuss how and when you might use them throughout your day.
        • Possible techniques include cooling breaths, heating breaths, calming breaths, and energizing breaths
    • Trauma-informed yoga flow for all levels
      • Consistent movement has been shown to strengthen the mind-body connection thus improving mood and decreasing stress while taking care of our bodies and practicing presence.
      • You’ll develop an understanding of various movement and shapes and how they can support wellness throughout your day. We will practice forward bends to calm and center, work on stretching and range-of-motion to lengthen muscles impacted by the movements in our daily lives, and more.
