    Hello everyone!

I’m Megan, the new music therapist here at Noteable Progressions! I just wanted to take some time to introduce myself, as you will be seeing me around the office and community.

I’m from the beautiful Catskill mountains in Upstate New York. Have you ever heard the story of Rip Van Winkle, who slept for 20 years in the woods? It is those mountains and woods that I grew up living in and near. I lived in a small town, Walton, that is 45 minutes away from the closest Walmart. We have a grocery store, McDonalds, a few local restaurants, and three gas stations. Even though we didn’t have lots going on in town, we always seemed to find things to keep us busy. Going to see a drive-in movie, having bonfires, going on hikes, and going out for ice cream with my friends have always been some of my favorite things to do when I’m in New York. Some of my favorite summer foods from home are ice cream from Pie in the Sky, a family-friends ice cream shop, and having chicken speedies for dinner. Speedies are native to the southern tier of New York and are marinated chicken on skewers cooked on a grill, much like a kabob, just without the veggies.

What brought me to Maryland, you might ask?

Well, before I applied for the job at Noteable Progressions I didn’t know that much about Maryland, except that it was that small state that you drove through on your way to Florida. The more I explored Maryland, and Frederick especially, I really liked the history that was around the area. Not only is there history back to the beginning of our country, but so much of the Civil War was fought in and around this area. It is close to Gettysburg, Baltimore, and Washington D.C., with lots of things to explore in all of those places. Frederick and the surrounding area also have lots of things to do. Taking a walk around downtown, reading a book in the park, or going on a hike are all easily accessible. These are some things that I was excited about when I was moving and looking for places to live.

Now I’m looking forward to learning more about what is in Frederick and the surrounding area. So, I want to hear from you! What are some of the great local places I should try for food or ice cream? What are your favorite regional foods that I should try? What are some of the places that I just can’t miss going to? Or things I should see? Please let me know what your favorites are, so I can try them myself as I explore my new home!
