Music for Mom

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, it’s time to think about what you are going to do with Mom. Maybe you have a fun-filled day planned, or maybe it’s just a quite afternoon at home. Maybe you are going to visit your mom, or maybe you are Mom. Whatever you are doing for the big day, here are some ideas to add music into your celebration!

Sing Along

Does your mom have a favorite song? Or a song that she always sang to you? If a song comes to mind, this is a great thing to share with her. Share the memory and sing the song with your mom. It’s a wonderful way to show her that you care!

Mother’s Day “Name That Tune”

This is a great music game that everyone can play! It could even be a great game to play with Mom on a Mother’s Day car ride to Grandma’s. You know the music your mom likes best. Pick a few songs and sing or listen to a few lines. Can she name the song title? What about the lyrics that come next?

Personalize It!

Are you the creative type? Looking for something unique to give Mom? Try one of these ideas!

• Parody Song

Remember that favorite song of your mom’s we talked about before? Try re-writing some of the words to talk about what you love about her! Write or type up your new words and give them to her in a card, or sing them for her.

• Original Song

Maybe you want to write words that are totally your own. Pick a familiar tune, or write your own! Write lyrics that are just for your mom, and make a video of yourself singing it to send to her. You could even make it a little music video, if you wanted to get really creative!
